DEMOCRACY AND THE BATTLES FOR SURVIVAL

Many people claim that our democratic governmental system is the best that has ever been devised, and challenge us to come up with a better one. It benefits the most and disadvantages the least. Such practices have evolved and survive, for they leave the more powerful majorities in control of the police and military forces, and the economically disadvantaged minority groups don't have the power to overthrow it. The political parties compete against each other, and promise to supply more and more services and assistance to the public in order to win an election. Then the successful representatives will attempt to fulfill some of their promises, and supply these benefits to retain their electors continued support. To gain the necessary funds the government must increase royalties and taxes, and sell bonds. This increases the inflation rate, and motivates labor groups to demand higher wages, and for manufacturers and suppliers of commodities to increase their prices. The public's demands, and the political parties attempts to honor their promises is responsible for the continuous rise of inflation. These two forces, in a sense, rule the democratic sector of the planet. They are both out to pad their own pockets at the expense of others, and neither group in our national enclaves has an inclination or the knowledge to guide human civilization from its fateful course.

Most of us wish to prevent the sorrows and costs of war amongst the nations, as well as the many competitions of the citizens within them, but don't know how to make peace in either sector. Our natural survival value of outnumbering our rivals, and our spiritual beliefs in promoting unlimited population increases has prompted our nations to compete more vigorously for the resources of the planet, and for their citizens for the earnings of each others labors in the political arena. We have failed to overcome the competitive forces of nature, so should not expect to make peace without absolving the problems that drive us to act in opposition towards each other. We can no longer blame our imaginative deities for the injuries we commit upon others, for they are caused by our instinctive responses to nature's influences, and they can be overcome in many instances. To solve our problems would be a case of mind over matter: our mind over the materials of the planet to determine how best to use them without wasting our efforts in avoidable competitions and spiritual controversies.

All species have been driven by the influences of nature to compete for survival, but humans have become the most intelligent, for we can understand and avoid the influences that drive us to oppose each other. However, those that lead us spiritually and politically do not lead us to be less competitive, so we must take steps to salvage our planet's deteriorating environment, and shape our future here on earth, for we couldn't get to any other like it in the sky.
